Goyt Valley to Shining Tor
Escape into the heart of the Peak District on this beautifully varied circular walk, which combines historical intrigue with some of the region's most rewarding panoramas. Starting from the evocative ruins of Errwood Hall, the route gently leads you from serene reservoirs and wooded slopes up onto the high, open moorland of the Cat and Fiddle plateau.
Follow in the footsteps of Roman traders along the ancient 'Street', before claiming the twin peaks of Cats Tor and, finally, the summit of Shining Tor, Cheshire's highest point. Here, you're rewarded with breathtaking, far-reaching views before a pleasant descent back into the sheltered beauty of the Goyt Valley. This walk is a perfect blend of achievable challenge and magnificent scenery, complete with stone-paved paths to keep your feet dry on the high ground.
