Cairngorms Map 1000 Piece Jigsaw

Take on the might of the great British wilderness with the Pieceful Maps Cairngorms 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle. As the largest National Park in the United Kingdom, the Cairngorms is an arctic like plateau of high mountains, ancient Caledonian pine forests, and rare and majestic wildlife. This Ordnance Survey map jigsaw offers an incredible cartographic challenge, using a scale carefully chosen to fit the entire Cairngorms National Park boundary onto a single puzzle. You get a complete overview of this 4,528 square kilometre landscape, packed with hundreds of place names, roads, rivers, and mountain features. The scale is the same as a standard roadmap, so you will see the major routes and settlements, but not the hyper detailed footpaths and contours that walkers might need. That makes this puzzle a fantastic way to explore this vast park without being overwhelmed by excessive detail.

As you build the 1000 pieces, you will navigate the 55 Munros, which are mountains over 3,000 feet, that dominate the landscape. The Ordnance Survey mapping clearly shows the high plateau of the Cairngorms themselves, a unique arctic environment with rare plants and snow patches that can last all year. You will spot the highest peaks, including Ben Macdui, the second highest mountain in the UK, and Braeriach, the third highest. The map also shows the dramatic passes and glens, including the Lairig Ghru, a wild pass that cuts between the peaks. You will trace the River Spey as it flows from its source in the mountains down to the Spey Valley, a region famous for whisky distilleries and salmon fishing.

The puzzle includes all the major roads, such as the A9 that runs along the western edge of the park, and the A93 that crosses the mountains from Perthshire to Deeside. You will spot the charming towns and villages of Aviemore, the outdoor capital of the Highlands, and Ballater, a Victorian resort with a royal connection to Balmoral Castle. The map also shows the many lochs, including Loch Morlich with its sandy beach, and Loch an Eilein with its ruined castle on an island. The Cairngorms are home to the only free ranging herd of reindeer in the UK, and the map helps you locate the mountains where they roam.

The Ordnance Survey mapping captures the habitats of the park’s famous residents, including the golden eagle, the red squirrel, the mountain hare, and the capercaillie. The scale ensures that the whole park fits neatly onto the 1000 pieces, measuring 69cm by 48cm when completed. This puzzle is perfect for those who love remote, wild places. It provides a relaxing yet immersive way to explore the largest area of high level mountain ground in the British Isles. From the snowy plateaus to the deep lochs, every piece reveals a corner of this spectacular landscape. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence.
