Beginner’s Photography Workshop
Fancy getting off ‘Auto’ and really understanding your camera? Join me for a relaxed and practical beginner’s photography workshop right in the heart of the stunning Peak District.
This isn’t a big, impersonal group – I keep things small with just three places available. That means you get my full attention and tailored help throughout the session. No feeling lost at the back!
Perfect for you if:
- You’ve got a camera (DSLR, mirrorless, or a bridge camera) but feel a bit baffled by all the buttons and settings.
- You want to move beyond just pointing and shooting to capture the beautiful landscapes (or details!) around you properly.
- You’d like hands-on guidance in a friendly, no-pressure environment.
We’ll cover the essentials, like:
- Getting to grips with your camera’s main settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) – without the jargon overload!
- Simple techniques for nailing focus and getting sharp, well-exposed shots.
- The basics of composition – how to frame up a lovely landscape or an interesting feature.
- Making the most of the gorgeous Peak District light and scenery around us.
It’s a hands-on, 6-hour adventure. We’ll walk, talk, and practise, and I’ll be right there to answer all your questions (no such thing as a daft one!). You’ll leave feeling more confident, knowing how to use your camera creatively, and hopefully chuffed with the photos you’ve taken.
Ready to see the Peaks in a whole new way? Come and learn with me!
- What You’re Booking: A relaxed, small-group beginner’s photography workshop in the Peak District, lasting 6 hours. Focus is on learning core camera skills and composition in beautiful surroundings.
- Your Host: The workshop is run personally by Phil Sproson of Phil Sproson Photography.
- Small Groups: I keep it intimate! Maximum of 3 attendees per session. This means you get plenty of one-to-one time and tailored help from Phil.
- What’s Included: Professional photography tuition from Phil throughout the session. We’ll explore picturesque Peak District locations by car, Phil will drive you, chosen for great views and learning opportunities.
- What I Can’t Guarantee: While I’ll choose great spots, I can’t control the Peak District weather or specific lighting conditions on the day. The focus is on learning skills you can use in any conditions.
- What You Need to Bring:
- Your camera (DSLR, mirrorless, or bridge camera – even your mobile phone).
- Your camera’s battery (fully charged!) and memory card.
- Any lenses you have (if interchangeable).
- Wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear (think walking boots or something robust – the Peaks can be muddy!). Dress in layers for changeable weather.
- Bring water and pack your own lunch.
- Fitness & Mobility: Expect gentle walking on footpaths and potentially uneven ground to reach viewpoints. Total walking distance will be kept manageable, typically under 1 mile. Please ensure you have a reasonable level of mobility. If you have specific concerns, contact me before booking.
- Cancellation & Bad Weather:
- By You: Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel. Refunds may be offered if we can fill your space, minus a small admin fee. Cancellation less than 48 hours before the start is non-refundable unless we can refill the spot.
- By Us (Bad Weather): If the weather is truly dreadful (think torrential rain, high winds, or dangerous conditions making photography impossible or unsafe), Phil may need to reschedule the session. I’ll contact you as early as possible if this happens to arrange a new date. A full refund will be offered if you can’t make the new date.
- By Us (Other Reasons): If Phil is unexpectedly unwell or has to cancel for another essential reason, we will either reschedule your booking or provide a full refund.
- Booking: By booking a place, you agree to these terms and conditions.
- Enjoyment: My main aim is for you to leave feeling more confident with your camera and having enjoyed a lovely few hours out in the Peaks!
